Sound Healing: Aligning With Your Personal Symphony

“Sound is the medicine of the future.”
~Edgar Cayce

Sound has been utilized in various cultures for thousands of years as a tool for healing. Whether through the use of mantras as with the Hindis, the Icaros (medicine melodies) of various Indigenous peoples from Central and South America, or Pythagoras’ use of interval and frequency, these various techniques all have the same intention: to move us from a place of imbalance to a place of balance.

The World is Sound!

The Ancient Mystery Schools of Greece, Rome, Egypt, Tibet and India as well as the First People’s shamans all had great knowledge of the power of sound. Sound was understood as the primary creative force in the universe. The ancients knew what modern physicists are now finally understanding; that everything is in a state of vibration, and everything is energy. “The world is Sound!” proclaimed the ancient mystics and indeed it seems to be so.
I first came to Sound Healing as a young, reluctant healer 26 years ago. One day as I was working with a patient, my spirit guides insisted that I put an “O” sound into my patient. To say I was shocked is putting it mildly.

In 1989, Sound Healing was not known to many, if any, especially in the middle of NYC. If my guides hadn’t insisted I use sound by giving me a headache the size of the whole universe, I would have never, ever considered singing into people’s bodies, believe you me! Once I connected my headaches with my resistance, I figured the only way out of my pain was to do as my guides requested.

As soon as I sang an “O” into my patient’s knee, my Sound Healing education began. Over the next 26 years, I would learn through spirit guidance how to apply sound as medicine. Much to my shock and delight, I have now witnessed amazing healings utilizing pure tone sounds: everything from reducing inflammation in the knees, eradicating chronic migraine headaches, reducing healing time by 50% or more post-surgeries, to emotional healings of grief, depression and anxiety.

brain w musicWhen I sing this ancient universal language, I connect and raise people’s vibrational frequency all the way from the cellular level. When a person’s vibrational frequency is high and aligned, they gain mental clarity and emotional balance. Additionally, their immune system is better equipped to manage everything from a common cold, allergies, environmental disturbances, stress, cancers and other debilitating diseases.
Today, through Quantum Physics and the study of Neuroplasticity we now know scientifically that sound has the ability to change the molecular structure of the body. Modern science is now in agreement with what the ancient mystics knew; everything is in a state of vibration.

Every organ, every bone, every tissue, every system of the body is creating sound. When we are in a state of health, we’re like an extraordinary symphony of the self. When we are in a state of dis-ease, we have become an ill-tuned orchestra that has lost is resonant equilibrium.

By simply applying harmonizing vibrations of sound, we can bring the body back in tune with ourselves, and the whole universe.

“Music is the mediator between the life of the senses and the life of the spirit.”
~Beethoven (1770-1827)
